History of Can-Am®
Here at Nielsen Enterprises, we carefully curate our inventory, because we stand behind what we sell. The good news is that we’re just as nuts about powersports as you are, so we expect every rig we sell, for on-road or off-road, to perform like a rockstar and be as reliable as a schoolteacher. Can-Am® is one such brand that we are proud to carry and sell with complete confidence. Here’s some background information on this legendary brand.
If you’d like to kick some knobby tires, please come and see us at our two showrooms in Lake Villa, Illinois, one for marine and one for powersports. We have the best customer service team from Chicago all the way up to Milwaukee, Wisconsin!
The Great White North
It all started when Canadian Joseph Bombardier started inventing utility snow vehicles in 1920. His earliest success, in 1935, was basically a truck with skis and track propulsion. This soon evolved into the snowmobile, the perfect vehicle for traversing the Canadian prairies. By WWII, Bombardier was building snowmobiles for the Canadian Army, and also heavy-duty snow vehicles for mining and logging.
Bombardier’s inventive engineering lives on today in the company known as Bombardier Recreational Products (BMP), whose roots go back to Bombardier Inc., founded in 1942. BMP is the umbrella company for a number of best-in-class outdoor recreation vehicles and equipment including Can-Am as well as Ski-Doo®, Sea-Doo®, Lynx®, Rotax®, Evinrude®, Alumacraft®, and Manitou.®
The Launch of Can-Am®
Can-Am started with a laser focus on motocross dirt bikes. These motorcycles had the agility and high speed capabilities competitive racers crave. Soon, the company expanded to ATVs, and by the late 1990s, Can-Am created ATV models that had TTI rear suspension using two independent pivot points. This revolutionary design drastically improved the quad’s comfort on tough terrain, which allowed riders to blaze through dirt trails for hours on end.
The Present
Can-Am expanded its off-road category to include impressive UTVs as well as ATVs. Today the company’s on-road selection consists entirely of trikes with two wheels in front and one in back: the Ryker and the Spyder.
Can-Am continues to manufacture top notch powersport vehicles for its customers, with their ATVs being extremely popular all across the globe. Today’s shopper has a wide range of options. Some machines are for just one rider, while others are built to take up to six passengers, letting you can bring your whole crew along on an adventure. If you got your rig for work, these have plenty of space and power for your workers and your gear.
Whether you’re seeking adrenaline highs or a sturdy workhorse, there’s a Can-Am model for you. Ready to check out some Can-Am vehicles for sale?
